Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility

The competition is open to individuals aged 18 years or older.
By entering, participants confirm they have the legal right and authority to submit the artwork.

2. Original Work & AI Restriction

All submissions must be entirely original artwork created solely by the entrant.

AI-generated or AI-assisted artwork is not permitted, including (but not limited to) image generators, AI upscalers, or AI-assisted composition tools.

By entering, participants confirm that:

  • The work is fully their own creation

  • They hold the rights to all elements used

  • No AI systems were used in the creation of the artwork

​Reference imagery on the site may include generated visuals for mood purposes only.

3. Use of Submitted Work

All submitted work remains the property of the artist.

By entering the competition, the entrant grants the organiser permission to display their submission solely for the purposes of the competition. This includes:

  • Showcasing entries

  • Shortlisting and announcing winners

  • Promoting the competition itself

Submitted work will not be sold, licensed, or used for commercial purposes unless the entrant is selected as the winner and a separate agreement is made.

4. Use of Winning Entry

The winning design will be commissioned as the official book cover.

By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to:

  • Provide final, high-resolution, print-ready files

  • Work with the organiser on reasonable edits (such as typography, layout, and formatting)

A separate agreement will be made with the winner to define final usage rights for publication, marketing, and distribution.

5. Future Work Opportunity

The winner will be offered the first opportunity to design future covers in the series.

This work will be commissioned separately at a fixed rate of €500 per cover, unless otherwise agreed.

Acceptance of future work is optional and subject to mutual agreement.

6. Prize & Payment

The prize for the competition is €500.

The winner is responsible for:

  • Declaring and paying any applicable taxes

  • Complying with local tax laws

The organiser accepts no responsibility for tax obligations.

7. Submission Requirements

Entries must not:

  • Contain copyrighted material not owned by the entrant

  • Include stolen, traced, or derivative work

The winner must be able to provide:

  • High-resolution, print-ready files

  • Source or layered files if requested

8. Disqualification

The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:

  • Violates originality or AI restrictions

  • Cannot be verified as original work

  • Contains offensive or inappropriate content

  • Does not meet submission requirements

9. Liability & Indemnity

The organiser is not responsible for:

  • Disputes regarding ownership or authorship

  • Loss or damage of submitted files

By entering, participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organiser against any claims arising from their submission.

10. Similarity & Non-Selection

The organiser is not responsible for any similarity between submissions and existing or future works.

Submission does not guarantee:

  • Selection

  • Publication

  • Use of the artwork

11. Credit

Reasonable effort will be made to credit artists where possible, particularly for the winning entry.
However, credit cannot be guaranteed in all formats or platforms.

12. Competition Changes

The organiser reserves the right to:

  • Modify, suspend, or cancel the competition

  • Adjust timelines or requirements if necessary

13. Selection Flexibility

The organiser reserves the right to:

  • Select no winner if no submission meets the required standard

  • Commission alternative artwork outside of the competition

14. Withdrawal of Entry

Entrants may withdraw their submission at any time prior to the competition deadline.

After the deadline, entries may still be displayed as part of competition-related content (such as shortlisting or announcements).

15. Communication

The organiser is not obligated to:

  • Provide feedback on submissions

  • Respond to all entrants individually

16. Use of Non-Winning Entries

All non-winning submissions remain the property of the artist.

Only the selected winning entry will be used as the final book cover.

Non-winning entries will not be used for any commercial purpose and may only be displayed in the context of this competition, such as showcasing entries, shortlisting, and announcements on social media.

17. Submission Deadline

All entries must be submitted before the stated deadline.
Late submissions may not be accepted.

18. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.

19. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an entry, participants confirm that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions

  • Agree to be bound by them
